Silversea has paid tribute to sales and strategic account manager Julie Nunes, who died on Saturday (July 12) after a two-year illness.
Nunes, who joined the cruise line in 2014 as regional sales manager for the north-east, was praised for her passion and enthusiasm and hailed as a “dear friend” as well as a valued colleague.
Connie Georgiou, Silversea’s sales director for the UK and Ireland, the Middle East and Africa, said: “It is with great sadness that we, the team at Silversea, extend our heartfelt condolences following the passing of our dear colleague and friend Julie Nunes.
“Her loss is deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
“Julie truly embodied the spirit of Silversea. Her passion, enthusiasm and dedication inspired us. She exemplified the very essence of our brand – always going above and beyond to share her love of travel and cruising.”
She added: “Julie’s vibrant energy will be missed. She was not only a valued colleague but also a dear friend to many of us within the Silversea family. Her legacy of passion and enthusiasm will continue to inspire us every day.
“We send our deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones. Julie, we will miss you.”
Cruise365 managing director Anthony Blackmore said: “Julie Nunes was not just a trade partner, she was a friend to all of the north-east travel community and had a laugh and smile that lit up every room she walked into.
“Julie will be missed and the team at Cruise365’s thoughts and prayers are with her family.”
Jeanne Lally, joint managing director of Travel Bureau in Gosforth, Newcastle, said: “I’ve known Julie since she started work at Lunn Poly. She went on to manage its shop in Gosforth.
“Her zest for life and selling travel, particularly in her role for Silversea, was totally infectious.
“Conscientious, funny, professional, tenacious, a lover of life and vintage bargains, she was a joy to be with.
“An amazingly proud wife, mum and more recently grandmother, she radiated optimism. I am personally heartbroken at the loss of such a vibrant human being with so much to contribute.
“My thoughts and love are with her incredible family who have lost their anchor.
“We are the poorer for her passing in every sense.”
